KAREN MEAD

These little prints are part of a body of work created during lock down that record my experience of daily swimming in the sea. Like many others I discovered the exhilaration of the cold and the joy of meeting friendly strangers all supportively embracing the challenge of getting in.
Technically I wanted to explore using caustic soda, the use of which destroys the surface of the lino plate leaving broken and more painterly textures that the usual graphic carved marks.
