Rosa Luetchford is a Hastings based artist, working primarily in oil paints. Having grown up on the Dungeness coast, the sea and the elements that surround it have been a constant source of comfort and a way of life. Having moved to London to complete her BA in Fine Art: Painting at Wimbledon College of Art, Rosa moved back to the coast five years later. Lavender Python Boots was painted whilst Rosa was living in London as she missed the seaside. Sea You Soon (The Sea is Still Here) was painted in Hastings, during the first lockdown and is of Rosa’s sister who still lives on the Dungeness coast. The piece was created through a longing to be reunited with her family but as a reminder they are just around the bay and still connected by the sea.
