Emily's work, inspired the local area, captures the beauty of the coastline using expressive brushwork and a sensitive palatte.
"The Ryebank gallery is a wonderful place for me to exhibit my work as I was brought up in East Sussex and return often. I love many things in the area from the sea to the beauty of the landscape. Many of the paintings in the exhibition are inspired by these things. From a picnic on the beach on a cold winters day to the early evening light at camber to flowers from my parents garden.
My foundation course was at central st martins before studying in Florence where I had a classical training. I took away a lot from this training understanding more about colour light and painting techniques. Since then I feel my style has developed into a free more expressive way of working.
