LAURA RIBBONS

1/1
Laura Ribbons’ work explores her fascination with plants and the ways in which we coexist with them. Recent works navigate how we relate to other species – including plants – and the need to recognise them as individuals. Through her bold mural-like paintings, Laura celebrates the strength and resilience of plants, they offer both an escapism from the realities of the climate crisis as well as representing a desire to find solace and resolution in nature. By documenting and exploring botanical themes repeatedly and obsessively through her paintings, Laura is also investigating her own relationship to what we consider ‘natural’. Her works represent a tension between a desire for ‘wilderness’ and an appreciation for cultivated landscapes.
