LOUISE PETTIFER

I am an artist inspired and uplifted by the gardens, countryside and coast of the British Isles.
I make my work using a combination of printmaking, painting and intricate cut paper
collage.
I love being outside; walking along footpaths, on country lanes and through gardens. My
work attempts to evoke and preserve those feelings of well-being and peace that time spent
in nature induces.
I have been fortunate to work at Sissinghurst Castle Garden, as artist in residence for the
National Trust. I visited the garden often and made work which celebrated the seasons,
along with the planting, structure, beauty and history of this fascinating garden.
More recently, I have developed a body of work around the concepts of ecosystems and
rewilding, a project for which I received support though Arts Council England.
I studied for a BA in Textiles at UCA Farnham, specialising in silk-screen printing, before
completing an MA in Drawing at Camberwell, University of the Arts, London.
