Scott Garrett

My art practice currently consists of making semi-primitive ceramic figures, in coarse dark clay and painting empty structures with acrylic on board.

My paintings are part of an ongoing series of imaginary, vacant, buildings, “Nobody’s Home”. These vacant structures mourn the loss of the beating hearts they once contained.

The ceramic forms are, perhaps, witnessing the formation of their own heart beat.
Somewhere, behind their encrusted mask a soul is flickering and starting to emerge.

I feel that as i breathe new life into my ceramic forms, i’m simultaneously recording it’s departure in my paintings.

Life, in ceramic and paint
